We are very much aware of the devastation that is currently taking place in Houston. A city that is completely covered by water. Many people within that area are left devastated from Hurricane Harvey. Many are without homes, food, clothing, and medical needs. As we continue to watch the news and see images of people being carried out by boats, it just brings tears to our eyes for many. This is home for millions of people and to now be displaced can be scary. Houston is in need of lots of prayers but they also need your help.
Unfortunately, there will be scammers out there taking advantage of this situation and using it to their benefits. It is very important that you do your research before giving to ANY charity or cause. Make sure you know where your money is going and to whom. If you are not comfortable in giving money, then help provide supplies such as blankets, toiletries, socks, and other needed items. Check your local area for churches or centers that may be collecting such items to send out to those affected from Hurricane Harvey.
Please read the following article from the Federal Trade Commission Before Giving To Charity. Please report any suspicious charity to the local authority.
As a Texan myself, my family is very fortunate not to be affected by Hurricane Harvey because we live in the DFW area, however, there are many others who were not as fortunate as we were. Support by volunteering your time. A hug and the care of someone will go a long way.
Stay Strong Houston!
